Choosing the Right Affiliate Program
Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate programs are a great way to make money online; if you choose the right affiliate program. That it why it is extremely important that you carefully choose which affiliate program or programs you want to join. When it comes to choosing an affiliate program, do you know what to look for you? If this is your first time joining an affiliate program, you are urged to keep on reading. Below are some guidelines that you may want to think about following.

Perhaps, the most important thing that you need to remember, when choosing an affiliate program, is to not pick the first affiliate program that you come across. This is a big mistake that many affiliate program participants make. Unfortunately for you, this can be a costly mistake. What many do not realize is that the product you choose to promote will reflect on you and your business. That is why it is important that you take the time to thoroughly examine an affiliate program first. You will want to choose an affiliate program that involves a product that you can stand behind, one hundred percent.

One of the best ways to know that you are dealing with a legitimate affiliate program and a quality product is to test that product out. Although you are advised to do this, you may not want to or you may be unable to do so. If that is the case, you can still research an affiliate program or even the product that is being sold. You can easily do this online. One of the best ways to do your research is to perform a standard internet search. Search with the name of the affiliate program or the product being sold. You can also check out websites that are known as scam websites. These websites tend to profile companies, individuals, or business opportunities that regularly scam consumers.

Before applying for or signing up for an affiliate program, you are advised to read all of the rules, restrictions, or guidelines associated with that affiliate program. Unfortunately, you may find yourself disqualified from an affiliate program right off the bat. For instance, there are a large number of affiliate programs that prohibit their products from being advertised on websites that display pornography, foul language, and other offensive content. Familiarizing yourself with an affiliate program’s rules and guidelines will prevent you from being denied from a program or later dismissed from one.

Perhaps, one of the most important things to remember, when choosing an affiliate program, is the product that you will have to sell. In conjunction with making sure that the product is a quality one, you will also want to make sure that it is related to your website or business, in one way or another. For instance, if your own website focuses on computer programming, you will not want to join an affiliate program that sells pet products. Joining an affiliate program that is related, in one way or another, to your own website may increase your chances of making a sale; thus increasing your profits.

Affiliate Marketing Basics - What is an Affiliate Program?
Affiliate Marketing

Are you looking for a relatively easy way to make money online? If you have been doing research online, you may have come across programs that are known or referred to as affiliate programs. Affiliate programs are a great way to make money online, but do you really know what they are?  If not, you are urged to read on.

Before examining affiliate programs, namely what they are, it is best if you first familiarize yourself with internet marketing. All business owners need to market their business to the general public.  Since all online customers are internet users, online business owners need to market their products or services to the internet community.  This is where the term internet marketing comes from.  A wide variety of different marketing tactics are considered internet marketing.  Just one of those marketing tactics is affiliate programs.  What is nice about affiliate programs is that they not only benefit online business owners, but they also benefit other webmasters; webmasters just like you.

When an online business owner, who is selling a product or service, wants to increase their sales, they seek assistance from other webmasters. This assistance is typically sought from webmasters who have a website that is, in one way or another, related to the product or service being sold. For instance, if the product being sold is a work at home e-book, webmasters running work at home business sites are likely to be sought after.  If and when this partnership is formed, the exact details will be worked out.  In most cases, you, the webmaster, will be asked to display links or banners that lead the other website; the one where the product, in this case a work at home e-book is available for sale.

As it was mentioned above, affiliate programs are a great way for online business owners to increase their sales and profits, but they are not the only ones who benefit from affiliate programs; webmasters do as well.  Business owners who run an affiliate program usually work in conjunction with an affiliate tracking company.  This company uses cookies and other internet technology to track internet user clicks.  This means that if an internet users clicks on one of your affiliate links and ends up making a purchase, the tracking software used will record that purchase, when it occurred, and the amount of it.  This allows business owners to know exactly how much you helped them out. In turn, you will be rewarded for this assistance.

Speaking of being rewarded, this reward is referred to as commission.  With affiliate programs, you receive commission for helping an online company generate internet sales.  The amount of money that you receive will all depend on the company in
question, as well as the amount that you originally agreed to. Many of the businesses who are looking for affiliate partners advertise, upfront how much their affiliate partners make.  This amount is typically a percentage of the sale.  As previously mentioned, that percentage will vary, but it is not uncommon to see percentages from three percent all the way to fifteen percent.  If commission is not determined by percentage, it will often be a flat rate amount.

Making Real Money with PLR Content
Content

You hear it over and over:  content is king.  It happens to be true. Almost. Unless your website has quality content, all the SEO tricks in the book won't do you a bit of good in the long run. And unless you have fresh, quality content products to resell,  setting you apart from all the others, you are swimming upstream. That's why Private Label Rights (PLR) products are so valuable. When you have Private Label Rights to a product, you are authorized to change it, reshape it, repackage and rename it, and sell it as your own original product. The truth is, ORIGINAL content is king.

The real money in PLR is NOT in buying PLR material and reselling it “as is”. That’s what everybody does, and with everybody trying to resell the same product the value collapses quickly. We've literally seen brand new, high quality PLR products go from $37 new release to free signup bonus in one week.

The real value of PLR material is to modify it, re-work it, re-package it as something “new” and be the FIRST guy selling it, or the only guy using it in giveaways, not the 973rd guy selling it. If you aren’t already set up to be able to do everything you need to do to really work with PLR content, or don't have the time required to really do it right, you may want to give

EXTREME PLR MAKEOVER  a serious look.

This website furnishes a wide variety of PLR material, AND all the tools to repackage them as your own new original products – even generate your own cover images!

For about the cost of the next 5 or 6 cheap PLR products you buy, you’ll be able you to make dozens, or even hundreds, if you’re creative,  of your own PLR products.

If you're interested in getting a flood of Private Label Rights products that you can reface quickly and easily to resell as your own, check out Extreme PLR Makeover. It's designed for people who don't have all the tools or technical ability to customize products, those who want to minimize time spent on product customization, and those who want a complete set of quick, easy-to-use tools for customizing products, such as an online ecover creator, automatic front-to-back tag replacement of title, author and many other tags.

Choose from an on-site library of over 50 products to customize. And each month, the site will add many new products to the library. Extreme PLR Makeover will help you streamline your product development so you can focus on building your business to greater and greater heights!

Extreme PLR Makeover now!

Free Stuff

These giveaway sites are now open, offering a smorgasbord of free tools, content, software, and more.

The links below open in a new window, so you can sign up for the giveaways from right here. How's that for convenience?

Hottest Giveaway of 2009  (1/20 - 2/2)

Golden Giveaway 3 (1/25 - 2/3)

Here's a tip if you are relatively new to giveaways:  get your downloads organized, or you'll end up with three billion files on your computer and never be able to actually find anything you're looking for again. And don't trust to the "search" function, because YOU will remember the name of the product you're looking for, but your computer will only be able to find the name of the file ... which, instead of "The Really Cool Script I Want to Use" is probably something like "gobbledygook_blah_blah-078695.zip".

Two common methods of organization are by subject matter or by type of rights you received. But however you organize them, get your gifts organized in some way that makes sense to you.

Affiliate Marketing Basics: Let's Talk About Traffic
Affiliate Marketing

When you’re just getting starting in Affiliate Marketing, one of the most important things you need to learn about is traffic – specifically what it is and how to get it.

Why?

Because although it’s become somewhat of a cliche these days, the truth is, “the money is in the list” – but that means YOUR list, not the list of the people whose products you’re selling – at least not if you want to be successful.

Here’s why.  As an affiliate, your job is to find people who want to buy the products you’re promoting, right?  So to do that, you need to write an ad (or hire a copywriter to write it for you), and send people to a Website where they can buy the product.

BUT – there’s a serious problem with using this method.  Do you see what it is?

Anywhere from 60 to 95% of the people you send to the sales page probably aren’t going to buy the first time.

1. Most people want to be certain that they’re making the right decision, so they usually need to see or hear from you between 5 to 12 times before making a buying decision.

2. If you’re paying for the ad and sending people to the seller’s Website, the ones who don’t buy disappear forever. (And neither you nor the seller will benefit.)

3. Of those who do buy, if you’re only sending them to the sales page, YOU still lose them forever because you have no way of knowing who they are.

Here’s the solution:

Finding a Search Engine Optimization Company
SEO

When it comes to business some people like to get their hands dirty and iron out every little detail of every little deal and transaction. Others like to handle the parts of the business that they know and are comfortable with, leaving the bits and pieces they are unsure about to people who know what they are doing.

Before you start looking for a search engine optimization company sit down and consider your situation. What goals do you have for your website? What are your priorities? How much can you afford to spend, remember that you pay for quality, the lowest price isn't always the best deal.

When it is time to submit your web-based business to a search engine their are search engine optimization companies who, for a fee, will be happy to optimize the websites for the business owners who do not feel comfortable doing it themselves.

Search engine optimization is the art and science of making a website attractive to search engines. If you don't know where to find a reputable search engine optimization company try looking in search engine optimization forums, references or articles on reputable websites, ask friends for recommendations, ask other webmasters if they used anyone to optimize their sites and if they did ask which company they used and if the experience was pleasant.

The first thing you have to watch out for when you're selecting a company to handle your search engine optimization is scams. The first thing to do is avoid any search engine optimization companies that are listed in the black hat directory. Black hat search engine optimization is not really optimizing but really just spamdexing, most search engines penalize websites that are caught spamdexing.  Also avoid any company who guarantees a ranking before they even look at your site. Make sure the company you are considering is actually going to do something besides add doorway pages and meta tags.

What is spamdexing?

Spamdexing is using methods that manipulate the relevancy or prominence of resources indexed by a search engine, usually in a manner that is inconsistent with the purpose of the indexing system. A lot of times spamdexing is done by stuffing a website full of keywords, web crawlers (the programs search engines use to rank websites) read the web sites they read lots of the same keyword and assume that the sight is content rich. Based on the web crawler's findings the website is given a high rank. Allot of the time the keywords are stuck at the bottom of the document where the internet user can't see them. Keyword stuffing is considered content spam.

The other common type of spamdexing is link spam. Link spam is spamdexing that takes advantage of link ranking algorithms causing search engines to give the guilty website a higher ranking. Link farms, hidden links, Sybil attack, wiki spam, spam blogs (also referred to as splogs), page hijacking, buying expired domains, and referrer log spamming are forms of link spam.

Search Engine Optimization - Budgeting
SEO

For arguments sake let's say that you own a successful bed and breakfast in the middle of Idaho. Currently you rely mainly on word of mouth and repeat customers. You can't help wandering if creating a website won't help attract more attention to your little business.

A quick internet search has you rethinking your plans. There are a lot of bed and breakfast's with web pages. You can't help but wonder what you could possibly do to get your webpage noticed.

The key to a successful webpage is search engine optimization.

Search engine optimization is the art and science of making your website attractive to the internets search engines. The more attractive your website is the search engines the higher they will rank your little bed and breakfast. The higher your website ranks the more people, hopefully, will check your website out.

The first step towards a successful website is getting it submitted to a search engine. Search engine submission is the act of getting your website listed with the search engines. Search engine submission can also be referred to as search engine registration.

One of the first things you want to consider is how much you are willing to spend to submit your website to a search engine.  It is possible to have your site listed for free; paying for the service will generate more traffic to your website. The cost of submitting your website to Yahoo's search engine is about three hundred dollars a year. The three hundred dollars pays for Yahoo's human compiled directory. The humans help influence web crawlers to your website. If you can't afford the three hundred dollars for the human compiled directory try to list your website and see if any of the search engine crawlers locate it. You can go back in a few months time and pay for a human compiled search engine later.

There businesses that, for a fee, can help you design a website that will attract web crawlers to your website. Many of these businesses charge different prices for different search engine optimization packages. Types of search engine optimization services some of these companies offer include naming convention, keyword density/syntax, blog implementation, vertical affiliates, and third-party posting. When looking for a business or search engine consultant looks for reciprocal links, keyword strategies, knowledge of HTML, language skills, knowledge of search engine optimization boosters, submission strategies, and submission tracking,

If you decide to use a search engine optimization company take your time and shop around. Ask questions. Avoid any companies that guarantee instant success, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. Try to find a search engine optimization company that will work to build the targeted content of your website. Look for a company that offers interactive features that create documents that will lead web crawlers to your website.

When it comes to the cost of search engine submission and search engine optimization spending less simply means it might take a little longer to realize your goals. The more you are able to spend the faster your website will gain attention.

Natural Search Engine Optimization or Pay-Per-Click?
SEO

The internet is literally like having the world at ones fingertips. Not only does it provide families a cheap way to stay in touch (e-mail and instant messaging), it allows students to cram for finals and write last minute papers in the middle of the night, long after the library has closed, but the internet is suddenly a way for the smallest business to break into a global market.

Let's pretend that you are the owner of a small novelty store in a small rural town in the Midwest. Most of your merchandise is handmade trinkets and crafts created by the residents of the small town (on commission so the up front cost of most of your merchandise is minimal). Although business is slow during the winter months during the tourist season you turn a tidy profit. One day as a Chicago tourist purchases a photo of the late afternoon sun glinting off a herd of sleeping cattle she mentions that she wishes you had a website so she could purchase quaint Christmas gifts for her family. As she leaves the story, her wrapped photograph tucked under her arm, you stare at your computer.

The internet could be a cheap way to increase your profit margin. You already have your physical business, a website would simply be an addition. You look at all the pretty knickknacks arranged throughout the store. If you expanded your business to include a website you could sell mid-western trinkets all over the world. It wouldn't take that much time. You have a friend that would design and teach you how to manage a website for free. You could answer questions during the slow times when you're not doing anything anyway. It would be a win-win situation.

In theory you're correct. A website could be a lucrative addition to your business.

It is possible to design website, register a domain name, and submit it to a website. But what happens next. Just like the physical shop the website will not do any business if there isn't any traffic. No one will visit your online store if they don't know about it.

The chances are good that your regular customers will probably check out your website, the ones that made items you have featured will probably tell their friends and families about it, but the chances are good that they won't buy anything, why should they pay for shipping and handling when they can drive a couple of miles and purchase it directly from you. Your tourist customers might buy from your online store but only if they know about it and since you probably waited until the slow season to create your website it will be months before you can tell them.

You could look into search engine optimization.

You might even want to consider something called pay-per-click.

Pay-per-click is a search engine that bases its rankings on something that is called a bid position. A website owner bids for an elevated position in the ranking when a certain keyword is typed into the search bar. The higher the bid, the higher the ranking.

Businesses that use pay-per-click prefer it to natural search engine optimization because it's an easy efficient way to improve a sites ranking and increase its traffic.  Pay-per-click also lets webmaster maintain control over the search engine campaign.

Many people who for go pay-per-click to natural search engine optimization say that the cost of pay-per-click is too high, but for many savvy webmasters, the payoff from a well-researched, well-prepared and well-managed pay-per-click campaign is more than worth the cost involved.

Social Media Optimization
SEO

Social media optimization is similar to search engine media optimization. The goal of social media optimization is to drive huge amounts of people to a specific website. Social media optimization can also be used to determine whether or not a startup website will be successful or whether it will fall flat with the consumers. Social media optimization uses new techniques to encourage traffic to a website.

Social media optimization was a name created by Rohit Bharagava, the vice president of Interactive marketing.

Social media optimization is online tools and platforms that can be used to share opinions, insights, and perspectives. It cant take many forms such as text, images, audio, and video. Popular forms of social media optimization are currently blogs, pod casts, message boards, vlogs, and wikis. Social media optimization is anything that builds a community where people can rendezvous. Social media optimization normally includes websites that can be used as a platform to send out a marketing message.

Social media optimization is not something that can be forced. It is considered a type of pull marketing; it only works if people are drawn to it. Search engine optimization has clear goals. Webmasters who use search engine optimization want to have a website that ranks well with the search engines.

The goals of webmasters who are trying to use social media optimization are; an increase in linkabilty, easy book marking, mash-up, inbound links, and helping content travel.

The rules webmasters who are using social media optimization need to live by are, rewarding valuable (helpful) users, and they need to make sure they are a user resource.

Webmasters who are using a social media optimization technique should make sure they participate with their users. You need to be a part of the blogs and the message boards.

Webmasters that are employing a social media optimization technique must know their target audience. You need to know what appeals to that particular group of people. It is important to remember that not everybody will love you.

Make sure you have created content. One of the words typically associated with social media optimization is mashup. The origins of the word, mashup, gets it start in the pop music world.  Mashup is a website of application that works to combine content from more then one source into an integrated experience. A mashup is sometimes created as a way to gather feedback on an existing project or body of work. Most companies use a third party via public interface. Google, Amazon, Yahoos! APIs, eBay, AOL, and Windows Live are some of the companies currently experimenting with mashups.

Despite the fact that social media optimization is a relatively new concept,  social media optimization wasl be one of the top seven marketing trends of 2007 along with; sharing corporate personalities, widget marketing, auto tagging, human filtered searches, content casting, and online identity shifting.

Social media optimization is something that encourages a fun social environment. Enjoy it.
